What could be the reason behind the background-image not functioning properly in this case?

Would you mind taking a look at this link? http://jsfiddle.net/BbkBf/

I have a couple of questions:
1. Why is the background-image not displaying for the first one? (Even if the a tag is empty, it should still work)
2. Why isn't the image being shown for the second img tag?

Could this possibly be a Wordpress issue?

Answer №1

The reason for not being able to load the image from the domain is due to the protection against hotlinking, which restricts access unless you are within the domain. You may want to consider uploading the image to a different domain to resolve this issue.

For reference, you can check out this example: http://jsfiddle.net/BbkBf/3/
