Ways to hide menu click when hovering over it

As a beginner, I have created a menu that shows options on hover and click. However, I am encountering an issue where clicking on one menu option and then hovering over another menu creates two lists of options. Is there a way to make the clicked menu option disappear when hovering over another menu? I apologize if this question has already been addressed, but I couldn't find a solution.

If you're looking to add both hover and click events, it might be necessary to set up different event listeners:

Here's a simple concept example:

el.on('mouseenter', function(e){ //for hover
  disableClicks();
}

el.on('mouseleave', function(e){ //for hover
  enableClicks();
}

Alternatively, consider simplifying the functionality so that it only requires either a hover or a click event. Since the menu will already be open when they go to click anyway...
