Utilize a single CSS class or theme to style multiple boxes within a stack - Material-UI

I'm currently diving into the world of React js and MUI components.

I'm in the process of creating a stack with multiple boxes, each with its unique style that's consistent across all boxes in the stack. Is there a simpler way to define one style for a box and have it applied to all boxes?

Answer №1

If you want to style a box, consider using the sx prop:

const boxStyle = {
    my: 4,
    display: "flex",
    alignItems: "top",
    gap: 1,
    p: 2,
    ...
};

...

<Box sx={boxStyle}></Box>

Another option is to create a custom component for the specific box you need, for example:

const StyledBox = ({ children }) => (
  <Box
    my={4}
    display="flex"
    alignItems="top"
    gap={1}
    p={2}
  >
    {children}
  </Box>
);

...

<Stack direction="row" spacing={2} border={1} borderColor="divider">
    <StyledBox>
        <TargetMetricIcon fontSize="medium" /> Target Metric
    </StyledBox>
</Stack>
