Troubleshooting an issue with Laravel's Bootstrap 5.2 dropdown functionality

After setting up a pre-configured navbar from the Bootstrap website, I noticed that the dropdown feature is not working. This issue arose with the latest version of Bootstrap 5.2 which was integrated into my Laravel project without any modifications to the code. Why is the dropdown toggle not functioning as expected?

I have included a screenshot showcasing the dropdown menu

<li class="nav-item dropdown">
    <a id="navbarDropdown" class="nav-link dropdown-toggle" href="#" role="button" data-bs-toggle="dropdown"
       aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false" v-pre>
        {{ Auth::user()->name }}
    </a>
    <div class="dropdown-menu dropdown-menu-end" aria-labelledby="navbarDropdown">
        <a class="dropdown-item" href="{{ url('dashboard') }}">Dashboard</a>
        <a class="dropdown-item" href="{{ route('logout') }}"
           onclick="event.preventDefault();
           document.getElementById('logout-form').submit();">
            {{ __('Logout') }}
        </a>
        <form id="logout-form" action="{{ route('logout') }}" method="POST" class="d-none">
            @csrf
        </form>
    </div>
</li>

I have explored various online resources in search of a resolution to this issue.

Make sure the Bootstrap JavaScript library is included: Double-check that you have added the Bootstrap JavaScript library to your project. The line below should be present in your HTML right before the closing tag:

<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/<a href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection" class="__cf_email__" data-cfemail="0f6d60607b7c7b7d6e7f4f3a213d213f">[email protected]</a>/dist/js/bootstrap.bundle.min.js"></script>

This script contains the essential JavaScript for Bootstrap components, such as dropdowns, to function properly.

  1. Scan for JavaScript errors: Launch the developer console of your browser (normally by pressing F12 or right-clicking and choosing "Inspect") and investigate any JavaScript errors that could be hindering the dropdown's functionality. Resolving these errors may solve the problem.

  2. Check for jQuery conflicts: If using both jQuery and Bootstrap, ensure compatibility between the two libraries. As Bootstrap 5 has moved away from relying on jQuery, ensure you are using the latest Bootstrap 5 JavaScript without mixing it with older versions or jQuery-dependent code.

  3. Verify correct inclusion of Bootstrap CSS: Validate that the Bootstrap CSS file is correctly linked in the head section of your HTML document. The link should resemble this:

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/<a href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection" class="__cf_email__" data-cfemail="d3b1bcbca7a0a7a1b2a393e6fde1fde3">[email protected]</a>/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css">

  4. Confirm proper setting of data attributes: Ensure that the data-bs-toggle attribute is defined as "dropdown" on the dropdown toggle element ( tag). Setting data-bs-toggle="dropdown" should activate the dropdown menu.

  5. Validate Laravel's Blade templating: For Laravel users, ensure that Laravel's Blade templating system does not interfere with the structure and attributes of your dropdown elements.
