triangle as a backdrop

Looking for a unique design for your website background? How about a triangle split with black on one side and white on the other, like this image? I can't seem to find this online, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible to achieve this effect using CSS?

Also, I'm looking to make the text change color based on which side of the triangle it's on - white text on the black side and black text on the white side, similar to this example. Any assistance with this would be fantastic!

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

Answer №1

This design was created using the mix-blend-mode:difference; CSS property.

div {
  width:400px;
  height:400px;
  background:linear-gradient(45deg, black 0%, black 50%, white 50%, white 100%);
  display:flex;
  justify-content:center;
  align-items:center;
}

h1 {
  color:#fff;
  font-size:30px;
  mix-blend-mode:difference;
}
<div>
<h1>this is a text</h1>
</div>
