Tips for eliminating the left margin of an unordered list (ul) that is aligned using grid

I am working with a simple grid layout:

#grid{
  display: grid;
  grid-template-columns:  1fr 1fr 1fr;
  list-style-type: none;
}

To format ten list items within the grid:

  <body>
    <ul id="grid">
      <li>1</li>
      <li>2</li>
      <li>3</li>
      <li>4</li>
      <li>5</li>
      <li>6</li>
      <li>7</li>
      <li>8</li>
      <li>9</li>
      <li>10</li>

    </ul>
  </body>

The provided code creates a grid layout with an unwanted left margin, how can I remove it? (https://jsfiddle.net/0z9xuyc4/2/)

Answer №1

<ul> tag typically comes with a left padding of 40px (Source).

To adjust this, simply add the style padding-left: 0 to your CSS selector #grid {}, and it will align exactly as desired.

In case of uncertainty in the future, you can always use the Web Inspector tool in your browser to check if it's related to padding or margin.
