The placement of the Footer Div is incorrect

I'm struggling to determine whether my CSS is in the correct order or if I'm coding the footer div incorrectly, but I've encountered an issue. The problem lies with the footer div id="footer" starting at my navigation bar, which is preventing me from adjusting the footer size.

Answer №1

Start by eliminating the float:left property from the #textContent element, and then include the clear:both property to the #footerContent element.

See it in action: https://jsfiddle.net/akc3jw89/1/

Answer №2

Consider eliminating the float: left;

#footerContent {
    margin-left: 150px;
    padding: 0px;
    height: 58px;
    width: 1008px;
}

Answer №3

After some troubleshooting, I finally identified the issue! It turns out my CSS was incorrect for the

#imageContent {
    width: 254px;
    height: 250px;
    float: left;
    padding: 20px;
    img.center{
    text-align: center;
    margin: 0 auto;
    padding right:48px;
}

I made a simple adjustment by removing the

img.center{
    text-align: center;
portion and then made alterations to my HTML as follows:

 </div>
</div>

    <a href="http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=referer"><img src="images/valid_html5.gif" alt="Valid HTML 5"></a>
    <a href="http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/check/referer"><img src="images/valid-css.png" alt="Valid CSS"></a>
</div>

This adjustment successfully closed the div within my container.
