The mobile website layout appears immaculate on the emulator, but it doesn't translate well on real mobile devices

Recently, I delved into the world of html/css/javascript and decided to create a website as a way to practice my skills. However, I have come to realize that many of the methods I used are not considered best practices. I am committed to improving and will no longer use those techniques. My current challenge is getting the mobile layout I see on Firefox's mobile emulator to display correctly on an actual mobile device. Any suggestions on how to address this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Access Website Files Here

Answer №1

Most modern browsers come with default CSS styling: for example, if you enter a <h1>sentence</h1> like this without the necessary HTML tags, Chrome will still display the webpage.

I created a simple web design framework similar to Bootstrap, and these three lines are crucial for creating a responsive website. Remember to include them at the beginning of the <head></head>.

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width">

The files from Dropbox weren't opening, so I haven't been able to see your work. Try adding these lines and check if it helps.

Answer №2

One solution you could try is including the following meta tag within the <head> section of your web pages:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1, user-scalable=no" />

When I encountered a similar issue with Bootstrap in the past, I came across this helpful tip online. It's also worth considering utilizing frameworks like Bootstrap or Materialize for improved responsiveness.
