The HTML link is not directly attached to the text, specifically in Internet Explorer

When viewing my website in Chrome, the menu links in the Header function correctly. However, in Internet Explorer (specifically version 11), hovering over 'HOME,' 'LISTINGS,' or 'AGENTS' reveals that the displayed URL is incorrect and there is an underline under a different word than the one being hovered over.

For example, when hovering over 'LISTINGS,' the URL displayed on mouseover is for the 'HISTORY' page and the underline appears under 'HISTORY.' Moving the mouse to the left of 'HOME' causes the links to appear far off the header - it seems like the text for the menu is centered properly on the page, but the hyperlinks start from the very edge of the page.

If you visit my site, the issue should be apparent... I hope I have explained it clearly. I am seeking assistance in resolving this problem - as mentioned, it functions perfectly in Chrome but not in IE.

I am looking for help in solving this problem as this is a company website and it is crucial to ensure it works correctly in major browsers.

While I can't guarantee that this will completely solve your issue, here are my insights on the matter.

During my testing in Internet Explorer 9, I found that the website performed well when the Document Mode was set to IE9 standards. Interestingly, the document initially loaded in IE7 standards, but changing it to IE8 or higher rectified the problems with the links.

The culprit appears to be a <meta> tag within the <head> of the document:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

You may notice from this line why the document loaded in IE7 mode for me and likely for you as well when using IE11. You could modify the line to read as follows:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />

This change prompts Internet Explorer to utilize the highest available mode, which should display the page correctly (especially concerning the links) for both of us. Regrettably, this adjustment doesn't tackle the website's compatibility issues with IE7; instead, it prevents newer versions of IE from being affected by them.

(I'm unable to provide guidance on addressing the latter problem since I'm not well-acquainted with the intricacies of that browser version. However, considering that worldwide usage of IE7 is now likely below 1%, it's your choice whether to delve deeper into this.)

Hopefully, this information proves beneficial! Dealing with Internet Explorer always seems a bit more challenging, doesn't it?
