The CSS stylesheet appears to be properly linked, however, it is not displaying correctly on the preview page

Here are the locations of my folders: index.ejs can be found inside Markdown Blog/views/articles

This is where my css stylesheet is located: ../../css/styles.css

Despite ctrl+clicking the path and successfully navigating to the css file, the styles do not appear when I preview the website. I've attempted various path modifications such as ././css/styles.css, ../../css/styles.css, and relocating the file to a different folder along with updating the path, but unfortunately nothing has resolved the issue.

Answer №1

Web browsers interact with URLs, not local file paths.

The specific server-side file path connecting the view template to the CSS file is inconsequential.

What holds significance are the URLs for the route that displays the view and the route responsible for serving the static CSS file.

Answer №2

    <!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="mystyle.css">
</head>
<body>

XXXXXX

</body>
</html>

To properly style your HTML page, make sure to link your CSS file in the index page.
