Trying to add a unique touch to my image rotation with CSS. While familiar with rotating around x, y, and z axis, I want to achieve a diagonal rotation this time. Wondering if there's a way to tweak the y axis for a more slanted effect on my image?

To reach your objective, utilize the rotate3d function
transform: rotate3d(1, 1, 1, 45deg);
The direction of rotation is determined by a vector in the [x, y, z] coordinates and goes through the starting point (as specified by the transform-origin attribute)

Warp function on MDN
Simple illustration:
transform: warp(20deg, 20deg);
An illustration is provided below showcasing the usage of rotate3d
. It is important to ensure that the value of z
is set to 0
, and |x|=|y|
in order to create a diagonal effect.
img {
animation:move 2s linear infinite;
}
@keyframes move{
from {
transform:rotate3d(1,-1,0,0);
}
to {
transform:rotate3d(1,-1,0,360deg);
}
}

Another example of creating a diagonal effect by setting equal values for x
and y
:
img {
animation:move 2s linear infinite;
}
@keyframes move{
from {
transform:rotate3d(-5,-5,0,0);
}
to {
transform:rotate3d(-5,-5,0,360deg);
}
}
