Reduced width for dynamic website design

As I work on developing a responsive website, I've encountered an issue where only 50% of the screen is filled with content when viewed in mobile mode, leaving the rest as white space. Can you shed some light on why this might be happening?

In addition to that, I'm struggling to make the background image on my home screen responsive consistently. Sometimes it adapts well, while other times it doesn't. I'm not sure what mistake I might be making in this process.

Inspect every nook and cranny of the whitespace for any protruding div elements. You'll come across a div that stretches all the way horizontally on the page. Adjusting its width to match the other content will ensure it fits perfectly within the screen's width.

If you're having trouble with the display on your mobile device, it could be due to the absence of the <meta name="viewport"> tag.
