Positioning an icon in HTML using CSS

I have a question about aligning an icon. I've been trying to center it at the end of the bar without success. Here's a link to see what I'm talking about:

However, when I add the CSS code top: 5px;, the alignment gets messed up. Here's how it looks with that code:

Have you attempted using padding-top instead of top?

Consider using margin-top instead of top for the desired effect.

To enable top to function with relative coordinates, ensure that you have applied position: relative to its containing element.
