Navigate using React to a different HTML page based on certain conditions

After calling the fetch function, I am able to retrieve the correct token from the backend application. However, every time in this program, even if an incorrect token is retrieved, the program still navigates to StudentLobby (this should only happen when the correct token is received).

What could I be missing?

Login Function

Return HTML

Answer №1

One way to handle routing in your React application is by using the react-router library.

When working with tokens, remember to securely store and manage them for enhanced security.

Answer №2

Before rendering the StudentLobby component, it is important to validate the token. If your backend returns an expired token, the component will still be rendered because it is not equal to an empty string.

If you modify your backend response so that it only provides a token when the user is authenticated, and returns an empty string otherwise, your code should function correctly. However, if the backend responds with any string of a certain length even when the user is not authenticated, it will cause issues.
