Modify the size of the text in an <iframe> using inline css

After attempting the command below, I noticed that the text size within the iframe remained unchanged. Is there a different method to adjust it?

<iframe id="myiframe" src="**" height="230px" scrolling="no" style="font-size: 20px;"></iframe>

Answer №1

Altering the appearance of elements within an iframe from the parent document is limited when the iframe contains content from a different source (cross-origin content). This limitation is referred to as the same-origin policy, put in place for security reasons.

Nevertheless, if both the parent document and the content inside the iframe are part of the same origin, it is possible to access and adjust the elements within the iframe using JavaScript. Here is an example:

<body>
  <div>
    <iframe id="myiframe" src="iframe-content.html"></iframe>
  </div>

  <script>
    const iframe = document.getElementById('myiframe');

    iframe.onload = function() {
      const iframeDocument = iframe.contentDocument || iframe.contentWindow.document;

      // Adjust elements within the iframe
      const iframeElement = iframeDocument.getElementById('elementInsideIframe');
      iframeElement.style.fontSize = '20px';
    };
  </script>
</body>
