Measuring the quantity of 'table' elements with jQuery

This HTML code below defines a table structure. Now tables can be dynamically added to this structure.

<div class="tableStyle myWebsiteTable">
  <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" id="site0" class="site active">
    <thead>
      <tr>

      </tr>
    </thead>
    <tbody>
      <tr class="websiteDetails">
        <td colspan="5">
          <div id="websiteDetails0" class="divWebsiteDetails" style="display: block;">
            <table>
              <tbody>
                <tr id="190">
                  <td>index</td>
                  <td></td>
                  <td></td>
                </tr>
                <tr class="addPage">
                  <td align="center" colspan="5"></td>
                </tr>
              </tbody>
            </table>
          </div>
        </td;
      </tr><!--Website Details-->
    </tbody>
  </table>

  <table id="addNewSiteTable">
    <thead>
      <tr>
      </tr>
    </thead>
  </table>
</div><br/>

In order to write logic based on the number of tables inside the first div, I tried using the following jQuery syntax, but it did not work:

$('myWebsiteTable').children('table').length)

Please provide suggestions on the correct way to achieve this.Thank you.

Answer №1

Ensure to include the . before the class in Class Selector (“.class”) when using jQuery.

View Live Demo

$('.myWebsiteTable').children('table').length

Make sure to have jQuery included and that elements are added to the DOM.

You might need to utilize find() as children will only target immediate child elements, whereas find will locate all tables within descendants.

$('.myWebsiteTable').find('table').length

Answer №2

$('.myWebPageTable').find('table').length

If you want to include nested tables in the count:

$('.myWebPageTable table').length

Answer №4

Give this a shot, it could be exactly what you need
