"Learn the trick to concealing a modal and unveiling a different one with the power of jquery

Whenever I try to open a modal, then click on a div within the modal in order to close it and open another one, I encounter an issue. The problem is that upon closing the first modal and attempting to display the second one, only the background of the second modal shows up without displaying the body content.

Here is my HTML structure:

<div id="test-modal" class="modal hide fade" data-keyboard="true">
    <div class="modal-body">
       <div id="option"><p>Click here to show the next modal</p></div>
    </div>
</div>

<div id="test-modal2" class="modal hide fade" data-keyboard="true">
    <div class="modal-body">
       <p>modal show after a hide doesn't work?</p>
    </div>
</div>

And this is the jQuery code I'm using:

$('.option').click(function() {
    $('#test-modal').modal('hide');
    $('#test-modal2').modal('show');
});

Answer №1

Here are some helpful tips:

  1. Try removing the hide class from the modals divs
  2. Make sure to use .option in your selector, not id="option", and update it accordingly

Answer №2

I made a silly error with the jQuery code. I forgot to properly close off the first modal, which caused the animation to not finish and prevented the second modal from loading. To troubleshoot, I placed the secondary modal on top of the first one and it resolved the issue.

Answer №3

Feel free to utilize the data-dismiss attribute with the close button for a smooth experience.

 <button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true>×</button>
