Jquery oscillation effect

I am attempting to create a seesaw effect using jQuery, but I'm unsure about which plugin would be best for this task. The goal is to have the bar move up and down while the box on top moves in sync with it. You can find my code on JsFiddler here: http://jsfiddle.net/semantic/LscQd/4/

Thank you in advance.

To achieve the teeter-totter effect, I utilized the jQuery Rotate plugin along with an interval and a timeout function:

setInterval(function(){
    $(".bar").rotate({animateTo:15});
    $(".box").animate({left:284},1000);
    setTimeout(function(){
        $(".bar").rotate({animateTo:-15});
        $(".box").animate({left:0},1000);
    }, 1000);
}, 2500);

For demonstration, you can view the code in action on this Fiddle link: http://jsfiddle.net/LscQd/10/

Answer №2

Here is a quick attempt at creating a seesaw effect using CSS transforms to rotate between -30 and 30 degrees. It may not be perfect, but it can serve as a helpful starting point for your project. Check out the example here: http://jsfiddle.net/czAHU/1/

After some experimentation, I found that animating just the bar instead of the whole wrapper provides a much better result. I was surprised to see that moving the bar also affected the box, so I will proceed with caution in future attempts. See the improved version here: http://jsfiddle.net/czAHU/2/
