JavaScript Equivalent of jQuery's removeClass and addClass Functions

I am faced with the challenge of rewriting the following code without using jQuery:

document.querySelector('.loading-overlay').classList.remove('hidden');

Can anyone provide guidance on how this can be achieved?

Answer №1

Deleting:

document.querySelector("#specificElement").classList.remove("oldClassName");

Setting a different one:

document.querySelector("#specificElement").classList.add("newClassName");

However, keep in mind that this approach will delete all existing classes.

Answer №2

const changeClass = document.getElementById("elementId");
changeClass.className =
changeClass.className.replace(/\bcurrentClassName\b/,'');
