Is there a way to change the background color of product blocks on Shopify in a dynamic

Is there a way to customize the background colors of product blocks on Shopify by modifying the shop code? Take a look at this example:

Mockup showing alternating block backgrounds

Currently, all product blocks in the grid have a black background with white lines separating them. Is it possible to set the background color to white for every other product or implement a similar customization?

Answer №2

To select specific elements, consider using the :nth-child pseudo-class. There are various ways to achieve this effect, but one approach that may work well is:

Check out an example of the :nth-child(even) selector in action

.product:nth-child(even) {
    color: #fff;
    background-color: #000;
}
.product:nth-child(odd) {
    color: #000;
    background-color: #fff;
}

Another option could be:

li:nth-child(2n) {
    color: #fff;
    background-color: #000;
}

These are just a couple of possibilities among many. For more examples and information on the :nth-child pseudo-class, I recommend visiting the pseudo-class page on CSS Tricks

Best of luck!

Answer №3

The simplest method is using CSS with a :nth-child pseudo-class. All styles can be contained within this selector.

.item:nth-child(2n) {
  background: white; /* alternating items will have a white background */
}
