image in the background following the header

Live Example: http://jsbin.com/opokev/54

I am currently trying to set this image as the background image while also including a header, but as you can see in the demo, the header is overlapping the image.

Is there a way I can rearrange this so that the header appears first before the background body image? I still want to keep the image quality without resizing it.

Answer №1

Here is the solution you're looking for: http://jsbin.com/opokev/64/

By simply modifying top: 0 to top: 85px, the issue is resolved.

Answer №2

Consider utilizing the background-position property.

background-position: 0px 85px;

This could potentially solve the issue :)

Alternatively, you can experiment with the following code:

#background img {
    width: 100%;
    height: 100%;
    position: absolute;
    top: 85px;
    left: 0;
    z-index: -1;
}

I am unable to discern any discrepancies in these two backgrounds (particularly in terms of scaling):

However, please note that I am nearly falling asleep and currently not wearing my glasses ;)

Answer №3

Replace the img tag with a background-image property for the div#background. Then, adjust the background-position to center 85px.

Modified CSS:

div#background
{
    background:url('http://i52.tinypic.com/33xd1yu.jpg') no-repeat center 85px;
    width:100%;
    height:100%;
}

By making these changes, the background image will be shifted down by 85px.
