How should text inputs be positioned?

I'm not very experienced with forms, so I'm a bit confused about what's happening here. I'm attempting to position a text input inline with a button, but it doesn't seem to be working. You can view the code I'm using here: http://jsfiddle.net/gagalug/BEBAH/

Thank you.

Answer №1

Make sure to include the following line in your stylesheet:

img, input[type=image] {vertical-align: bottom;}

By adding this code, you can avoid any baseline issues with images and image-inputs. This solution will fix your problem right away.

It's surprising that more people are not aware of this simple fix. Even someone who runs a website as large as QuirksMode remains unaware of this helpful tip.

Answer №2

Include

input { align-items: center; }

Answer №3

There are several methods available.

  • Utilizing relative positioning in relation to the parent element and absolute positioning for the child.

  • Implementing vertical-align: middle; for both input elements.

Answer №4

Hey there, looks like you might find this helpful:

If you want to align your text at the top, simply add vertical-align:top;

#text{
    height: 40px;
    vertical-align: top;

}

Answer №5

Update your CSS with the following changes.

div{
        border: 2px solid gray;
        width: 600px;
        height: 60px;
        float:right;
    }
    #content{
        height: 50px;
        top: 10px;
        float:right;
    }
