Explaining how a browser is able to correctly display text with a specific Font-Family, it can be described as follows:
The font-family property allows designers to create a prioritized list of fonts for the browser to use when displaying content. If the first font choice is not available on the user's computer, the browser will move down the list to find a suitable alternative. If none of the preferred fonts are installed, a default font will be used to display the content.
In Windows 7, the list of installed fonts on a user's computer can be found in Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Fonts.
Despite "Open sans" not being listed in my installed fonts, my IE11 browser is still able to accurately display text formatted in "Open sans."
Where does IE11 access the "Open sans" font from?
Thank you for your assistance.
