How do I disable scrolling while the animation is running in CSS?

Is there a way to disable scrolling while animating in CSS without using overflow:hidden on the body tag?

Answer №1

Unfortunately, it is not possible to apply a specific CSS rule once an animation has finished using only CSS.

If you need this functionality, you can incorporate JavaScript to delay the return to normal scrolling behavior after a set period of time, such as 5 seconds. Below is an example utilizing jQuery:

CSS (add overflow rule to body):

body{
    overflow: hidden;
}

JavaScript:

$(document).ready(function() {
  window.setTimeout(changeOverflow, 5000); // set overflow back to auto after 5s
});

function changeOverflow() {
  $('body').css("overflow", "auto");
}

Take a look at the modified CodePen.
