How can I display only four decimal places by default within textboxes in HTML?

Looking for assistance with configuring textboxes in a cshtml file. The textboxes are bound to decimal fields in a view model and currently display nine zeros after the decimal point. I would like to limit the display to only four digits by default without fixing the length after the decimal point. Any suggestions on how to achieve this?

Answer №1

One way to achieve this would be by utilizing a C# controller or when binding data to a UI control:

String.Format("{0:0.0000}", 123.456789012); // 123.4568

Alternatively, this can also be accomplished in native JavaScript:

var num = 123.456789012;
var n = num.toFixed(4); // 123.4568

Answer №2

let number = 56767.87488958865
console.log(number.toFixed(4)) //56767.8748

Answer №3

In C#, another option is to utilize the CultureInfo class.

CultureInfo cultureInfo = new CultureInfo("en-US", false);
cultureInfo.NumberFormat.CurrencyDecimalDigits = 2;
cultureInfo.NumberFormat.CurrencyDecimalSeparator = ".";
cultureInfo.NumberFormat.CurrencyGroupSeparator = "";
cultureInfo.NumberFormat.NumberDecimalDigits = 2;
cultureInfo.NumberFormat.NumberDecimalSeparator = ".";
cultureInfo.NumberFormat.NumberGroupSeparator = "";

// Display the data like this
txtValue.Text = data.ToString("N", cultureInfo); // Format as number
txtValue.Text = data.ToString("C", cultureInfo); // Format as currency

Perhaps this approach will steer you in the right direction.
