How can I align navigation items to the right in Bootstrap 4?

Is there a way to align the navigation items to the right in a Bootstrap 4 navbar? I attempted using float-*-right but it didn't produce the desired result.

  <nav class="navbar navbar-static-top navbar-dark bg-inverse float-*-right">
  <a class="navbar-brand" href="#">Project name</a>
  <ul class="nav navbar-nav">
    <li class="nav-item active">
      <a class="nav-link" href="#">Home <span class="sr-only">(current)</span></a>
    </li>
    <li class="nav-item">
      <a class="nav-link" href="#">About</a>
    </li>
    <li class="nav-item">
      <a class="nav-link" href="#">Contact</a>
    </li>
  </ul>
</nav>

Any suggestions on how to correctly align the navigation items to the right position?

Answer №1

Make sure to include the 'float-xs-right' class in the ul element

<ul class="nav navbar-nav float-xs-right">

It is unnecessary to have 'float-*-right' in the parent nav tag as it serves no purpose

Answer №2

Updated for 2018

float-right is no longer effective due to the transition to flexbox in Bootstrap 4 Navbar. Instead, utilize the auto-margin class (e.g. ml-auto).
