Having Trouble with Font Awesome Icon Loading in Search Box

Currently, I am working on a website located at . However, I am facing an issue where the font awesome icon is not loading properly and is only displaying a square. I have thoroughly reviewed the CSS and cannot identify any conflicting elements.

Any assistance or guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Answer №1

It's quite unusual. Upon reviewing your website, I noticed that you're currently utilizing FA v. 4.2.0. Most of the websites I work on use version 4.7.0. Before proceeding with any other changes, I recommend replacing your link element for font-awesome.css with the following code:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.7.0/css/font-awesome.min.css">

It's possible that you're using an outdated version. Furthermore, after examining your headers and console log, everything appears to be in order.

Hopefully this information proves to be helpful!

Answer №2

It seems like the Font Awesome class .fa::before is being overridden by simple-line-icons. By unchecking the first property in the image provided below, the search icon is now displayed. If you are not using simple-line-icons, the quickest solution would be to remove the following link:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/simple-line-icons/2.4.1/css/simple-line-icons.css">
