Float Property for Aligning DIVs

Is there a way to properly align divs like the ones shown below? I tried setting a float left for both div1 and div2, but div3 ended up floating to the top right. How can I avoid this issue?

<div1>                <div2>
How hot is it?        ____________________
Any precipitation?    ____________________

<!-- Main content goes here -->
<div3>

Answer №1

In order to ensure that the third div appears below the floated divs, you will need to implement a clear fix. Here is my recommended approach:

Create a new class in your stylesheet named "clear":

.clear {clear:both}

After positioning your two floated divs, just before <div3>, insert the following HTML code:

<div class="clear"></div>

Following these steps should help maintain the proper layout of your elements.
