Ensure that all images uploaded are adjusted to fit the consistent dimensions within a card

I am in the process of creating a form that allows users to upload various images, which will then be displayed as cards on a website.

After uploading an image, the size of the card automatically adjusts to fit the image, ensuring that all cards maintain a uniform look (refer to the images below).

https://i.sstatic.net/nCUBs.png How can I ensure that all uploaded images, regardless of their dimensions, are displayed in the same space upon upload? (see example below)

Answer №1

Implement the aspect-ratio property on the image as shown in the following code snippet

body { font: 16px sans-serif; margin: 0 }
.cards { display: flex; gap: 1rem; padding: 1rem }
.card { text-align: center; width: calc( (100% / 3) - .5rem ) }

.card img {
  aspect-ratio: 1/1;
  object-fit: cover;
  width: 100%;
}
<div class="cards">
  <div class="card">
    <img src="https://picsum.photos/300/600">
    300 x 600
  </div>
  <div class="card">
    <img src="https://picsum.photos/600/300">
    600 x 300
  </div>
  <div class="card">
    <img src="https://picsum.photos/600/600">
    600 x 600
  </div>
</div>
