I have been working in IT for quite some time now, but recently I have started to delve more into web development. My main focus is on HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript, jQuery, and responsive design. However, one aspect that I always struggle with is images. I am hoping to get some help from experienced professionals who are willing to assist a beginner like me.
Where do you usually find images for your clients' websites or your own projects? Apart from taking original photographs, is there a preferred website that developers use which offers a wide selection of high-quality images for free?
Once you have obtained the images, do you follow a specific process to resize or enhance them for use on a website? While Gimp is effective for resizing, sometimes the image quality can suffer. It would be ideal to start with high-quality images at the correct size from the beginning. Are there any CSS tricks that developers typically employ to achieve the desired image dimensions?
Currently, I rely on Gimp for basic tasks such as creating text effects, resizing images, and designing simple banners. Is Gimp a reliable tool for these purposes, or should I consider using something else that is more user-friendly?
Although I have read numerous articles online, I value the insights and recommendations provided by the members of this community.
