Creating a countdown timer for a specific date and time using web technologies

I'm looking to create a timer countdown that is set to a specific date and time, such as June 1st at midnight. The code should display the remaining time until that date or time.

Answer №1

Consider utilizing the jQuery Countdown Plugin

Answer №2

Looking for a great free Under construction template with a countdown timer?

Check out this demo:

In the demo, the countdown timer is set up like this (taken from the source):

$(function () {
var austDay = new Date("December 10, 2012 02:15:00");
    $('#defaultCountdown').countdown({until: austDay, layout: '{dn} {dl}, {hn} {hl}, {mn} {ml}, and {sn} {sl}'});
    $('#year').text(austDay.getFullYear());
    });

You can customize the date string:

var austDay = new Date("December 10, 2012 02:15:00");

to fit your needs. Feel free to modify the design as well.

Download the template here.
