Bug in Cascading Style Sheets affecting Internet Explorer version 6 and version 7

My team is currently facing an issue with our website over at www.eat.vn. While the site functions perfectly on browsers like Firefox, Chrome, IE8 & IE9, and Safari, we are encountering a problem with a key design element when it comes to IE6 and IE7.

Attached is an image that showcases the unwanted stacking effect on the tabs. Despite our best efforts to find a workaround for this bug, we have not been able to identify a solution that doesn't impact other browsers negatively. Any assistance or advice on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Answer №1

Without access to IE6 or IE7 for testing, I am speculating on the issue at hand.

It appears that the problem may be linked to the container element for the tabs (<div id="steps">). This container is styled with float:left;, which may not be necessary as there are no adjacent elements. The float could be triggering a bug in IE6/7, causing the tabs to wrap incorrectly.

Removing the float:left from the container element could potentially resolve this issue. It is important to note that the individual tab elements inside should still retain their floating properties.
