Assistance required with CSS selector targeting the first child

Is it possible to style just the first link that appears directly below a list item with the "selected" class?

Feel free to check out my JS Fiddle

Answer №1

Yes, employ the following:

.selected > a:first-child {
    /* CSS */
}

The > symbol restricts the selector to immediate children.

Answer №2

To target the first child element, you can utilize the first-child selector.

.selected > a:first-child {
    color: red;
}

Another way to achieve this is by using the nth-child() function.

.selected > a:nth-child(1) {
    color: red;
}

Alternatively,

.selected > a:nth-child(1n - 1) {
    color: red;
}

:)

Answer №3

.chosen > a:first-child {color:red;}

It is recommended that you implement this solution for your specific situation.
