Arranging items in the final row of a flexbox

, I am seeking a solution that goes beyond the repetitive ones provided before. I need to find a more efficient way to achieve my desired outcome based on the code snippet below. In examining the code, it's clear that the first row accommodates 6 elements while the second row only fits 2. My goal is to have the first row's elements fill the space as shown in the code, but aligning the second row's elements with the first line. Unfortunately, simply using an after pseudo-element with flex: auto causes spacing issues between the last two elements in the second row. Similarly, applying flex-grow: 1 or margin-right: auto also doesn't deliver the desired result without disrupting the layout. I'm seeking alternative methods that don't rely on dummy elements or fixed margins between items. As the number and size of items are unknown variables, flexibility in the solution is essential for future adjustments.

Answer №1

It seems like you have explored most, if not all, of the methods available for aligning the last row in the current flexbox.

Hopefully, future versions of the specification will introduce alignment properties like last-row, last-column, only-child-in-a-row, etc.

In the meantime, we'll have to make do with the workaround solutions you've mentioned.

There are also some alternative options to consider: (Note that the second option may not be fully supported by most browsers yet.)
