Arranging form elements and a map in a side-by-side layout using HTML5

How can I align the contents of a map and a form side by side with responsive design? I've attempted using tables and lists, but the form keeps appearing on top of the map. Ideally, I want the contents to be displayed side by side on wider screens and stacked on top of each other on smaller screens. Any suggestions on the best way to accomplish this?

Answer №1

It's quite easy to achieve this using media queries...

HTML

<div id="map"> <!-- insert your map here --> </div>
<div id="form"> <!-- include your form here --> </div>

CSS

#map, #form {
    width: 50%;
    float: left;
}

@media handheld, only screen and (max-width: 500px), only screen and (max-device-width: 500px) {
    #map, #form {
        width: auto;
        float: none;
    }
}

Adjust the breaking point value from 500px to suit when you prefer the DIVs not be side by side anymore.
