Arranging buttons in a horizontal row using Bootstrap 3

Please review the example provided below.

I am looking to have the <a> tag positioned next to Button 2.

Answer №1

Utilizing a 12-column grid system, Bootstrap currently has two buttons that each occupy the entire available space (both at 6 columns wide), leaving no room for a third button. To resolve this issue, you can arrange your buttons as 5+5+2 columns. Here's an example:

<div class="col-md-6 col-md-offset-2">
    <button type="submit" class="btn btn-default btn-md col-md-5">Button 1</button>
    <button type="reset" class="btn btn-default btn-md col-md-5">Button 2</button>
    <a href="#" class="btn btn-default btn-md col-md-2"><span class="glyphicon glyphicon-search"></span></a>
</div>

If you'd like to position the third button outside of the row container, you can absolutely position it in relation to the column group:

<a href="#" class="btn btn-default btn-beside"><span class="glyphicon glyphicon-search"></span></a>

CSS:

.btn-beside {
    position: absolute;
    left: 100%;
    top: 0;
    margin-left: -10px;
}
