Arrangements of lines in website design for various screen resolutions

I am having an issue with the layout I'm working on - specifically, there is a visible outline of the div boxes at certain resolutions or when zooming in.

This is what it should look like:

However, this is how it appears at some resolutions or when zoomed in:

If you would like to view the website for yourself, it can be found here. Please note that the website is still a work in progress. You may notice the problem depending on your resolution, and if not, you can try zooming in or adjusting your monitor's resolution.

I believe this is a common issue with a simple solution. Thank you for any assistance you can provide!

Answer №1

By simply updating the #righthand element to have a float:left, you can make the vertical line on the right vanish.

#righthand {
    width: 368px;
    height: 373px;
    background: url("../img/right.png");
    float: left; //UPDATED TO LEFT
}

Additionally, adjusting the #tp element to height:248px will eliminate the other horizontal line.

#tp {
    width: 1024px;
    height: 248px; //UPDATED HEIGHT TO 248px
}

Answer №2

Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to check out the website before it went offline. However, from what I gather, achieving the desired effect may be as simple as using this CSS shorthand:

background: transparent url(imgsrc) no-repeat left top;

In addition, make sure to incorporate:

margin: 0; padding: 0;

This will allow you to specify the exact width of elements and ensure that any cuts are aligned with a grid for precision when slicing images.
