There is a visually appealing graph and pie chart featured in the section about

Investment Decision-Making in 2016
.

After noticing that it was created using Highcharts, I wanted to create something similar. However, I couldn't find a chart type like it listed in their documentation. Can someone please help me identify the specific chart type used? Also, I am curious about how to add different data items inside the bubble on the chart.

Answer №1

This particular chart seems to combine elements from line, bubble, and pie series.

The line series (or a scatter with lineWidth > 0) serves as the base underneath the bubbles. Interaction with this series should be disabled to avoid any hover state or tooltip interference.

The text inside the bubbles functions as data labels (dataLabels.enabled property should be true), and its content can be customized using the dataLabels.formatter callback function.

To display/add pie or donut charts, you can utilize the plotOptions.bubble.point.events.mouseover callback function. Text within the center of a donut chart can be created using SVGRenderer.text().

All the options mentioned above are documented in the Highcharts API: https://api.highcharts.com/highcharts/
