What is the process for calling CSS from a separate directory?

I am looking to start building a website. Can someone advise on how to organize html, css, and javascript into separate folders? One folder will house files specifically for writing HTML and JavaScript, while the other folder will be dedicated solely to CSS. How can I link the CSS file from the first folder?

Answer №1

Always keep in mind to utilize relative URLs (relative to the file containing the link). When the file resides in a different folder within the same directory, simply add two dots and a slash ../ before the folder like this:

<link rel=“stylesheet” href=“../folderNameGoesHere/style.css” />
