A golden rule states that if a task can be accomplished using CSS, it is best to avoid utilizing JavaScript for it. Fortunately, CSS provides the flexbox layout feature which allows for easy movement, alignment, and symmetrical positioning of elements on a webpage. The property display: flex applies the flex layout to all child elements within the body tag.
By setting flex-direction: row, all children align in a horizontal row. Other possible values include:

width: 100%
}
Setting width: 150px determines the width of the sidebar, while width: 100% ensures the main content fills the remaining space.
When it comes to designing sidebars, I have always preferred using a combination of HTML5 and CSS3. One of the things I appreciate about HTML5 is the inclusion of aside, nav, and section tags, which make structuring sidebars much easier.
Typically, I reserve the navigation area for the primary links list that spans across the top of the page. But when I need multiple navigation areas, like a sidebar links list, I turn to the <aside> tags.
With some straightforward CSS3 styling, setting up sidebar sections becomes a breeze. W3Schools has an abundance of tutorials that can guide you through this process if you're looking to learn more.
