What is the best way to eliminate the input border?

click here for image

I'm currently working on designing a straightforward login page. However, I've noticed that there are black borders around the input fields. Can anyone help with how to remove these borders?

Answer №1

It's not actually a border, but an accessibility feature in Chrome.
To fix this issue, you can try turning off the following flag:

chrome://flags/#form-controls-refresh
.
It seems that with the latest version of Chrome (83+), there have been changes to how forms are displayed and managed.

Answer №2

Consider implementing the following styling:

button {
   border: none;
}

button:checked {
   border: none;
}

If not, it could be due to a unique feature of your current browser.

I aim to assist and include the code snippet if needed.

Answer №3

Recently, I came across the latest Google Chrome update. To solve a border issue, you can simply add outline: none; to the specific element:

#testInput {
  outline: none;
  border-radius: 10px;
  border: 1px solid red;
  height: 25px;
  width: 225px;
  padding: 5px 10px;
}
<input id="testInput" type="text" placeholder="If you click here, no border is shown!" />

If the above solution doesn't work for you, another option is to disable a flag using this link:

chrome://flags/#form-controls-refresh
. This will change the color of the outline to light-blue, which used to be the default before Google's recent changes. However, keep in mind that not everyone may have disabled this flag if you are designing a website for public use. Hopefully, these tips are useful!

Edit: It should be noted that the outlined fix does not apply to <select> and <option> elements for unknown reasons.
