What is causing the slider image to be the only element that is not adapting to different screen sizes?

I am currently using the flexslider from woothemes and I am unable to understand why the image is consistently wider than the content when the browser window is resized or when viewed on an iPad/iPhone.

Upon inspection, I couldn't find any styles on the slider, slide, or image that might be preventing the image from resizing. There are no height or width attributes set directly on the image either. Additionally, there is only one image in the slider.

The container holding the content appears to be resizing as well, with the image/slide width set to 100%, yet it still extends beyond the screen to the right, resulting in a horizontal scroll bar appearing.

Website:

UPDATE: The image now resizes properly, but there is still a horizontal scroll bar present and a large empty space visible on the right side of the screen. Initially, I thought the image was causing this issue, but it doesn't appear to be the case.

Answer №1

To achieve a full-width effect, include the width: 100% property in the CSS declaration for .flexslider .slides img, as shown on line 21 of the flexslider.css file:

.flexslider .slides img {margin: 0 auto; display: block; width: 100%;}

Answer №2

Simply include max-width: 100% in the styling of the img element and you will see positive results.

Answer №3

simple: line 28

#footer .container {
    width: 960px;
}

To achieve a responsive design, adjust the box to be flexible by setting 'width:100%';
