What advantages do JavaScript menus offer in terms of technical capabilities?

After observing both pure CSS menus and JavaScript based menus, I am struggling to see the benefits of using JavaScript. Am I missing something?

I tried searching on Google for resources comparing CSS menus vs. JavaScript menus and came across some Stack Overflow articles from a few years ago.

For example, here is an old google search result and an SO article dated about 5 years back.

I'm curious to know - what is the current status of CSS menus in web development today?

Answer №1

If CSS can't achieve your desired effect, using JavaScript offers no advantage whatsoever.

In the past, JavaScript was used for animations before CSS3 introduced transitions and animations. However, JavaScript is now evolving into a standard due to its simplicity and superior performance in certain tasks.
