Web pages occasionally fail to load HTML files

After embarking on my first HTML and CSS project, I am facing some challenges that I hope someone can help me with. Firstly, my CSS files are not loading properly - could anyone provide insight into why this might be happening? Secondly, I have noticed that sometimes the videos on my webpage, especially on the memes section, fail to load and result in a black video player. Oddly enough, after focusing on my CSS, when I revisited the page, the videos were able to load successfully. Lastly, I am looking for guidance on how to add multiple audio or video files together. Even though I have three audio files named 'audio one', 'audio two', and 'audio three', only the first one is being displayed. Is there additional code that I need to include? For further reference, here are all my files, although please note that some of the video files were too large to upload: https://github.com/abdulahad12345/MyWebsite

Answer №1

  1. Make sure to enclose your CSS rules within { } curly braces instead of using ( ) parentheses. Also, remember to separate property and value with a colon (:) not an equal sign (=).

For example, a valid CSS rule would be:

background-color: blue;
  1. If you want to add multiple videos on a page, you can use the following code:
<video controls src="videos1.mp4" type="video/mp4"></video>

<video controls src="videos2.mp4" type="video/mp4"></video>

If you have the same video in different formats for various browser versions, you can utilize <source src="..... /> as shown in your project. This way, the browser will attempt to play the first supported format. Alternatively, you can specify the source directly within the <video> tag like the above example.

The same approach can be applied to audio files as well.

If you want to refresh your CSS changes, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F5 instead of just pressing F5.
