Web application designed with an app grid similar to the layout of an iPhone or Android interface

I would like to create a homepage similar to the layout of an "iPhone / Android" home screen, with multiple apps displayed on a webpage. Specifically, I am looking to replicate ERPNext's front page design.

Does anyone have any examples or templates that I could use as a starting point? So far, I've attempted using cards, but when they shrink to fit on mobile screens, they end up in a single row which isn't ideal for me since I plan to include around 30 smaller app icons on the page.

Answer №1

To achieve the desired layout, you can utilize a group of divs styled to display as inline-block elements. For reference, here is an older solution along with a JSFiddle demonstration.

Learn how to make inline-block elements wrap

The rest involves tweaking aesthetics and implementing basic CSS.

UPDATE: In 2017, flexbox has become the industry standard method for achieving this same outcome.
