Verify whether a particular font is installed on the system

Is there a way to use JavaScript or jQuery to check if a user has Proxima Nova font installed when using Typekit?

If so, I would like to incorporate that feature and then utilize jQuery to remove the Typekit loading class in order to optimize page loading speed.

Do you think this approach is feasible?

Answer №1

It's highly improbable that your site visitors will have this particular font installed, as it's not a standard part of any operating system installation.

After checking the link provided, it appears that this font is not included in the Adobe suite either, further decreasing the chances of someone having it.

Therefore, spending time creating a complex check for this font would likely be futile, as most individuals will probably access it through typekit instead.

Answer №2

Discover how to determine if a font is installed using JavaScript provides a helpful guide on checking for font installation. The tutorial highlights various considerations to keep in mind, allowing you to assess its value for your project.
