Troubleshooting the Angular 7 mat-select issue caused by the "ellipsis" CSS property with three dots

I am facing an issue with a mat-select property called "ellipsis". The three points appear in a different color than the text itself. I attempted to change it to white using the following code, but the dots still remain black.

   ::ngdeep .example{
        color: white
    }

Answer №1

It appears that the values of the different CSS styles are conflicting with each other. To resolve this issue, you can include "::ng-deep" and "!important" in your CSS code. Here is a snippet that you can try:

 ::ng-deep .mat-select .mat-select-value-text {
     color: white !important;
  }

Answer №2

If you want to use ellipsis to truncate text with a specific width and hidden overflow, you can use the following CSS code example:

.truncate-text {
  white-space: nowrap;
  width: 100px;
  overflow: hidden;
  text-overflow: ellipsis;
}

Give it a try and let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
