Troubleshooting a hover problem in CSS navigation bar

Having some trouble with the CSS menu on my website click here. I've tried adjusting the code, but can't seem to get all the menu levels to line up properly. As a beginner in CSS, I'm sure I'm overlooking something simple. When hovering and clicking, the sizes of the menu items vary and I'd like them to be consistent. I've inspected it using Chrome and Firebug, but haven't been able to figure out how to make the parent menu expand to match the hover effect.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance :)

Answer №1

Looks like your code needs some fixing. To start off, avoid setting the width of individual items in the submenu. It's better to set the width of the entire UL.submenu and ensure that the items inside are displayed as blocks to fill the entire width seamlessly.

Answer №2

make a small adjustment in your css file:

#menu2 li li a, #menu2 li li a:link, #menu2 li li a:visited {
    color: #FFFFFF;
    float: none;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0 0 0 15px;
    width: 160px; //update this value (width decreased)
}

I hope this solution works for you.

Answer №3

Creating a hover menu with CSS is quite simple. This technique functions well in most modern browsers, except for IE6 which lacks support for the :hover pseudo-class on li elements.
