Tips for updating the color of carousel image slider indicators (arrows) specifically for the second slide

Is there a way to customize the carousel image slider indicator arrows for only the second image slide?

For the first slide, I want the indicators to be black, but for the second slide, I would like them to be white. Can this be achieved?

I attempted to create an id tag for the second slide, but it didn't work. Can someone with expertise in CSS help me with this?

The issue I'm facing is the inability to target only the indicators on the second slide in CSS, and I'm unsure of how to proceed.

Answer №1

Take a look at this HTML code showcasing a Carousel image slider example:

<div id="carouselExampleIndicators" class="carousel slide" data-ride="carousel">
  <ol class="carousel-indicators">
    <li data-target="#carouselExampleIndicators" data-slide-to="0" class="active"></li>
    <li data-target="#carouselExampleIndicators" data-slide-to="1"></li>
    <li data-target="#carouselExampleIndicators" data-slide-to="2"></li>
  </ol>

  <div class="carousel-inner">
    <div class="carousel-item active">
      <img class="d-block w-100" src="1.jpg"   alt="First slide">
      <div class="carousel-caption">
      <h2 id="fadeuptext" class='animated fadeInUp' style="animation-delay: 1s">Hello</h2>
      <h2 id="fadelefttext" class='animated fadeInLeft' style="animation-delay: 2s">World</h2>
      </div>
    </div>
    <div class="carousel-item">
      <img class="d-block w-100" src="2.jpg" style="height:797px;"   alt="Second slide">
    </div>
    <div class="carousel-item">
      <img class="d-block w-100" src="3.jpg" style="height:797px;"   alt="Third slide">
    </div>
  </div>

  <a class="carousel-control-prev" href="#carouselExampleIndicators" role="button" data-slide="prev">
    <span class="carousel-control-prev-icon" aria-hidden="true"></span>
    <span class="sr-only">Previous</span>
  </a>
  <a class="carousel-control-next" href="#carouselExampleIndicators" role="button" data-slide="next">
    <span class="carousel-control-next-icon" aria-hidden="true"></span>
    <span class="sr-only">Next</span>
  </a>
</div>

To customize the second image slider arrow icon, target it in the CSS file and set the arrow color to white using: carousel-control-next, .carousel-control-prev.

If you're having trouble with your code, consider using an nth-child selector. For example, you can target the second element like this: .target:nth-child(2) { // add your styles here } To learn more about nth-child selectors, you can read this informative article on W3 Schools: https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/sel_nth-child.asp
