The frustrating part is that I can't pinpoint exactly what changes caused this problem..
My incredible talent for image debugging reveals that there is a fixed width of 755px set on the #main-wrapper. Once adjusted, the space issue will disappear (but keep in mind you may need to adjust other section widths as well).
On a lighter note, I stumbled upon his blog by exploring his profile, utilized Chrome Dev tools, and pinpointed the fixed width setting on #main-wrapper
